Transfer on Death Accounts
Similar to beneficiary designations, P.O.D and T.O.D. designations are ways to transfer bank accounts, certificates of deposit, and brokerage accounts upon your death directly to a named individual or charitable organization without going through the probate process. The benefits of this type of planned gift are that you retain complete ownership of the account while you are living; the gift is not completed until after your death, and the Agreement can be changed or revoked as your needs change.
Ask your financial institution to provide you with the proper form to complete a P.O.D. or T.O.D. designation.
If you establish a P.O.D. or T.O.D,. account with The Foundation as payee or transferee, please contact us. We will work with you to establish instructions regarding your gift so that your wishes are followed once the gift is complete.
